Welcome to the Society of Student Artists website. SOSA is a group of artists, operating out of the University of Alberta. Information on individual artists and their work or on group portfolios can be found in our gallery.
Still no word on Deweys, that I know of (Alex? Information?) But for those of you who don't know, we now have an ART BARN! Its "not actually a barn, but a little farm with a workshop, a beach, a lake/slough, a little house, hot tub, rolling fields, long dusty roads, forested area, a river for fishing/swimming, tree lined lane, wood shop, garden, and freedom." Welcome to the summer studio everyone, and hopefully a lot of us will be able to get out there and get a lot of good work done.
Something else to think about for summer, at Harcourt house, is the drop in drawing sessions. More info on their website
We talked to Dewey's last week, and the outcome was very positive. We are currently getting together any artwork you want submitted to the show there for FRIDAY MARCH 14TH. Bring it to the sculpture studio. An email was sent out regarding this as well. Good luck all!
We're going to go talk to Dewey's on Tuesday of next week (Monday March 4rd) about a group show there. For that meeting, all are welcome - and encouraged - to send photos in by the Sunday afternoon previous so that the photos may be printed off and shown to the owners of Dewey's as possible entries in the show.
Please send photos of work to Alex as soon as possible so that they can be printed off and brought to the meeting (it should be around 12:30 the afternoon of the 3rd - feel free to come along.)
There is also a logo for Campus Vert, of Campus Saint-Jean, in the works. The group would like to unveil it on the 19th; cuttoff for submission is MARCH 10th. Details are here.
Information on some of the specifics for the second mural can be found here, if you did not receive the email Dawn sent out. (In PDF format)

The first meeting of the new year should be taking place this coming Monday, January 21, at 5 PM in the sculpture studio. (Room 1-10 in FAB, for those of you who have never been) Hopefully, everyone can come on out!
For last fridays meeting - We talked about the site gallery, and sending images after Tuesday (Nov 12th) photo shoot - but we are also doing that so we can hopefully put together a portfolio for a group show - the hope is to have a small informal show at the Sugar Bowl sometime in the new year, and a year end one as well. Mike (cor1@ualberta.ca) is putting together those pictures for the show. Try and get them to him ASAP, so he can start working on sticking them together and getting the presentation going!
Please try and get some pictures! Some of you have really good images taken on your own time, but for those of you who don't have, or wish to get better quality images, Tuesday's the day!
